If a child or a teacher does not go to school one day, s\he is sure to be asked the same question by many people : Why didn't you go? Here, GO is highlighted and that is what we think a school is for.
At the end of an academic session, several titles are given away to the students and the guardians, too. 'The school topper', 'The most regular' and so on. Even 'The cleanest', although none knows how to select such a student and also what its effect is upon others.
Attending school regularly or scoring high marks doesn't prove that someone is forward\ expert\ talent\ honest\ responsible. I remember one of my college teachers who scored a high mark but couldn't clarify the subject matter well. A teacher used to tell me about his teacher who got lost on the way in an educational tour. In my previous article, I've mentioned about a student who wasa the class first but got involved in a crime. In fact, if we investigate, most of the crimes in the world are caused by the so called learned people. Contrary to these, we can see our senior members in the society who didn't see school in their days but are still guiding us to the right path.
As we see, the guardians are busy in managing expenses in their children's education. The teachers are busy in making them forward in their subjects. The students find themselves lucky to follow their teachers' instructions. The school adminstration and the management team is busy in showing their school better than other's. The policy makers are busy in making experiments. It looks like a machine with an 'input-process-product' basis that generates robots rather than human beings.
We take school as a mini society. So, human values must be focused there instead of the rotten knowledge. Books, courses and several other materials are there not to mug up for the examination. These things are to be taken as the means to achieve humanity . One day, when I was a child, I forgot to take the geometry box with me for the examination of mathematics and I sought help from my classmate but he had some reasons! He got good marks and was praised by the teachers! In my college time, I found some teachers suggesting their students not to share their notes of tuition classes. I know a person, now a rich and respectable member of my society, who was always equipped with helping materials in the examination. Some years ago, I went to work at a school. It was the time of examination and, as an invigilator, I took pieces of papers from the students who wanted to copy answers from them. Just after the exam was over and I was in the office room, I heard a row. Looking outside, I found the principal at the centre of a crowd of the students saying, " Don't worry, he's a new teacher, I'll tell him not do do so again"! My god, my face must have a look worthy to look at at that moment!
A school, as for me, isn't a factory. Instead, it is the amalgamation of the spectrum of happiness and sorrows in life. I don't know the expectation of the guardians of my students but I know that the teacher of my baby daughter mustn't be afraid that she may fail in the exam. Instead, I expect her to instill the human values like loving and sharing and having the feeling of responsibility while going through the pages of the books.
